Kitchen is that part of your house where food items, cooking utensils are kept.
In the Kitchen we also prepare different dishes for the family.
The kitchen is considered to be the woman’s place (office) as such it was mandatory for every woman, young and old to master the act of cooking.
In the olden days it was considered a taboo in some cultures for a young woman to be bereaved of knowledge of cooking.
Such a women were considered not fit for marriage, this goes to show how cooking was and still remains a major parameter for women at the marriageable ages.
Despite that cooking at this time was very cumbersome in the sense that every recipes must followed due process by the individual but sad that the reverse is the case in modern times with the invention of modern technology thereby leaving such task to a machine.
In the olden days very few men participated in cooking except for the widowers who keyed into cooking to survive.
Now the 21st century men have learnt cooking not only for themselves or family but professional as Chefs.
Therefore the increase on the number of Chefs, Caterers and food vendor calls for the practice of proper hygiene in this area.

Kitchen Behavior: The DOs
- Before you begin your cooking, Use a chef cap of possible to cover your hair.
- Practice personal hygiene by washing your hands regularly during your activities in the kitchen.
- Look smart in your dressing for complete comfort but avoid exposing your sensitive part especially at
outdoor occasion - Use apron to avoid spoilage on your nice dresses
- Avoid unnecessary communication or arguments while cooking for sanity sake
- If you have running nose, keep wear face mask and don’t forget to make good use of handkerchief (outdoor) and wash your hands before you touch the next thing
- Avoid rubbing your eyes,nose ears, armpit, scratching yourself in the cause of cooking .
- At outdoor cooking occasion where you are the Chef/Caterer, stick to your job and maintain proper conduct of yourself and the team.
- Avoid the temptation of going to occasions with extra food packs and nylons to take foods home, don’t forget you were paid for the services.
- If you must use the restroom, always wash your hands afterward with toilet soap and a clean water.
- Ensure that foods are properly covered
- Always rinse your plates before using them to eat, no matter how clean the plates are.
- wash your condiment thoroughly to remove sands before cooking
Kitchen Behavior: The Don’ts
Here are a number of the DO NOT you must never practice both at indoor or outdoor events
Do Not
- Sneeze directly into the food or at randomly in the kitchen, you may be spreading harmful germs.
- Using your tongue to tasting the food with the same spoon you used in cooking is unacceptable.
- Never taste an uncooked kpomo no matter how fresh it is or a raw meat
- Never talk while turning the food, it is so unhealthy
